ISLT 7370: Intermediate Web Development

Course Description:  Development of design and web authoring skills. Interactivity through use of CGI scripts and javascript. Design capabilities using Style Sheets. Gain expertise required for the production of HTML documents incorporating these advanced techniques.

Reflection: This has probably been my favorite course of the program.  It was also fitting that one of my first courses was Introduction to Web Development and the Intermediate course was the last.  As priorly stated, I was a little nervous when I began the Introduction course in the fall of 2017, but I quickly opened up to the ideas and concepts of the course.  I will admit that I began this particular course with some preset ideas: it would be easy (as I had felt quite comfortable coding by the end of the Introduction course) and that I would not be a fan as my own personal coding preference was to not use a separate style page for the CSS, but rather code inline.  However, as my portfolio of projects for this course began to grow, those preset ideas grew as well.  This was a true hands-on course that allowed me to be creative while practicing the concepts our professor guided us through.

This class allowed me to reflect on different websites and pages and what truly goes into building all of them--as well as the differences between hand-coded pages and WYSIWYG templates.
